Yes, I'd recommend to update even if you don't use Base currently.

First, this update also fixes a number of other bugs in Impress, Calc, and Writer.

Second, you are on the safe side, if anybody sends you an OOo Base document and you open it. "Better be safe than sorry" I'd say.

I never experience long load times for OOo Writer. - well, the Mac OS X via X11 version takes forever to load. But the Ubuntu Linux and Windows versions of OOo Writer loads really fast. At least on my generally slow computer.

Hey Kaj - from BostonBarCamp here, we talked about your software a lot.. I still gotta make it to a java meetup..

Another ad model - Revver is interesting - they host your content and pop ads on the end - split profits with you 50/50. Not strictly screencasts, but you get the idea.

AskANinja, ze frank and this guy are using it :)

I know this is a bit late, but a few points of clarification:

1. Flex Builder is $499, and was released late last month.
2. The 300K in the PDF file *includes* the animation... The animation is done using JavaScript, which you can use to animate the 300K object.

Thanks for attending!

Mike

Nice post! One correction: the DHTML release coming within a few weeks is a technology snapshot intended to open the door for contributors to the project. It will not be sufficiently advanced to allow you to build anything but the simplest DHTML applications. Think of this as an alpha 1 release; there will be more robust, feature-complete releases as we go.

(i work @ laszlo)
